Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare team by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The Medical Assistant performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic’s mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: One of the following:

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
• Documented successful completion of courses such as Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Pharmacology from an accredited institution or recognized online courses.
• Two years of Medical Assistant-related work experience and completion of the required educational courses within the first 12 months from hire.

Preferred/Optional: Healthcare experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Or, for Certified Medical Assistants:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification by AAMA, or
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by AMT or ARMA, or
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Wisconsin or equivalent, or
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification.

Preferred/Optional: BLS certification at time of hire.
