Job summary

Ascension's St. Vincent Evansville is seeking a Medical Assistant to support pediatric care in a dynamic clinic.

You will interview patients, take vital signs, assist with ordered treatments, and prepare exam rooms under supervision, while performing essential clerical duties to keep the office running smoothly. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent (or 1 year of related experience) and credentials including BLS and Medical Assistant certification.

Qualifications

• Licensure / Certification / Registration required
• BLS Provider credential within 1 Month of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Medical Assistant credential obtained within 3 Months of hire date (Certified or Registered accepted)

Responsibilities

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider under supervision by provider or RN
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on charts
• Prepares treatment rooms for examinations
• Performs basic clerical duties (answering phone, records, filing)
• Manages basic materials (ordering, stocking) and maintains a clean environment

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

• Licensure / Certification / Registration
• Required Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified or Registered both accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
