A growing healthcare organization seeks a Medical Assistant to support the Orthopaedic and Pain clinic. Responsibilities include assisting physicians, managing patient records, and providing excellent patient service. Certification and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this role.
Schedule: Hours vary Mon.-Fri. from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists the physician, along with other members of the team, in providing medical care to patients of the Orthopaeadic and/or Pain clinic. Assists with the maintenance of patients’ electronic medical records. Provides exceptional customer service to the patient, patient’s family and colleagues.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the English language, both verbally and written, in order to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, vendors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate physical effort when working in patient care environment consisting of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping. Moderate sitting and keyboarding along with fine and gross motor skills and manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Familiarity with general medical terminology, including but not limited to: body parts and orthopaedic-specific disorders.
Level I: May have limited experience working in a medical practice or hospital setting. Experience is generally acquired through the completion of an internship or externship as part of the business school or college program. Level II: A minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Assistant required with two years in an orthopaedic musculoskeletal group/facility preferred.
Current certification in basic life support (BLS) required, or the ability to obtain before working independently with patients.
