Job summary

Optum is seeking a Medical Assistant in Albuquerque, NM to support clinical and clerical tasks, greet patients, take vitals, document visits, and assist with front desk duties and scheduling. You will help ensure smooth patient flow and accurate records under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant experience (EMT, Medic, CNA ,etc.)
• BLS certification or must be able to complete certification within 30 days of hire
• Experience utilizing excellent customer service skills
• Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
• Demonstrated proficiency in Windows navigation and a variety of MS Office software applications
• Demonstrated ability to type and enter data efficiently and accurately

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and escorts them to exam room; takes vital signs and patient history
• Responds to incoming patient calls and communicates pertinent information to physician or designee
• Communicates lab results, orders, and medication instructions to patients
• Provides front desk assistance: scheduling, insurance verification, referrals
• Prepares exam rooms and maintains supplies; manages inventory and cleans equipment
• Handles patient payments and contributes to revenue cycle processes
