Job Overview

UPMC Department of Urology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their team at the St. Margaret Hospital Campus in Aspinwall, PA. This full-time position offers Monday through Friday hours, primarily daylight shifts from 7:30am to 4pm or 8am to 4:30pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required.

Responsibilities

1. Handle patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
2. Obtain and manage lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, and schedule appointments. Verify insurance and patient demographics. Maintain accurate charts.
3. Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control standards. Manage supply inventory.
4. Coordinate patient flow, assist patients with transfers and preparations, and collect vital signs and patient history.
5. Answer calls, provide patient education, and perform procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs.
6. Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory standards. Maintain confidentiality.
7. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Preferred: prior Medical Assistant experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• CPR certification (AHA standards) within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR.
• Act 34 clearance.
