Job Title: Medical Assistant

UPMC Department of Urology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their team at the St. Margaret Hospital Campus in Aspinwall, PA. The position offers hours Monday through Friday, primarily during daylight hours from 7:30am to 4pm or 8am to 4:30pm. No evenings, weekends, or holidays are required. Responsibilities include both back office and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on their experience and education, following the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Responsibilities:

1. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
2. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, complete forms/requisitions, schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and manage patient charts.
3. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and maintain infection control standards.
4. Check schedules, organize patient flow, assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
5. Answer calls, provide information, and educate patients as directed.
6. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures; document patient information.
7. Comply with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health) and maintain confidentiality.
8. Under supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
