Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Medical Assistant Apprentice in Minneapolis. The role provides patient care within the limits of the apprentice's current training, under supervision of nursing leadership and the MA program instructors, while completing coursework toward MA certification.

The program supports hands-on learning and career progression; apprentices study and work part-time in approved clinics, with the goal of advancing to a full Medical Assistant position upon successful program

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required functional competencies.
• Must be enrolled in an Allina approved accredited Medical Assistant program.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited skills & duties while attending coursework at an Allina approved MA program. Role may include, but is not limited to, cleaning and stocking rooms, copying, faxing, preparing patient forms, transcribing patient responses to questionnaires.
• The roles & duties will expand as MA apprentice moves through the MA coursework and demonstrates competency. These clinical skills & duties will align with the MA program curriculum progression and MA job description.
• Assigned Allina Preceptor/Trainer will validate MA Apprentice to ensure competency to perform task independently.
• Other duties as assigned.
