Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant Apprentice who will learn patient assessment, care planning, and documentation under supervision. The role emphasizes coordination of care, instruction on medications, and learner participation in a clinical environment.

The apprentice will gain hands-on experience with orders reconciliation, vital signs, and limited clinical procedures while adhering to OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA guidelines, and supporting staff and patients across practice settings.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of medical office policies and procedures.
• Three to five years of healthcare system experience or similar setting preferred.
• Must be able to learn and apply OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in Apprenticeship requirements while maintaining coursework and practicum.
• Triages calls and schedules urgent/emergent add-ons; relays test results.
• Greets patients, performs pre-exam procedures, and updates patient records with accuracy.
• Assists with room setup, sterilization, and basic clinical tasks as assigned.
