Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. Responsibilities include venipuncture, measuring vitals, assisting with exams, and clerical support; the role may float to other sites within the system.

The position requires CMA or RMA within 1 year, CPR certification within 90 days, a High School Diploma or GED, and completion of an accredited MA program (preferred).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• CMA or RMA certification within 1 year required.
• CPR certification for healthcare providers within 90 days required.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient preparation for examinations and minor procedures.
• Measure vital signs and document in EMR; perform venipuncture and participate in specimen processing.
• Provide clerical support and act as backup for Patient Services Coordinator.
• Screen patients for preventive care needs and coordinate follow-up as needed.
• Float to other sites within the system and participate in team huddles and safety practices.
