Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory setting under supervision. Duties include venipuncture, vital signs, patient education, and support across multiple sites within the system.

The role requires 6 months of ambulatory care experience or an externship, with potential substitutions for MedStar Health staff. Eligibility for CPR and CMA/RMA certifications is expected.

Qualifications

• 6 months experience in ambulatory care or equivalent.
• Externship in medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred.
• Externship at MedStar Health may substitute for the 6 months experience in ambulatory care.
• For Cardiology offices only: 6 months experience in ambulatory care or related degree or cardiac technician course.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient preparation for examination and minor procedures.
• Support the clinical care team to ensure smooth patient flow and proper documentation.
• Document activities in the EMR and perform basic clerical tasks as needed.
• Participate in team huddles and infection control practices.
