Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative tasks in an ambulatory care setting under supervision of a physician or nurse. Responsibilities include venipuncture, vital signs, specimen collection, EMR documentation and support for patient exams across sites.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, CMA/RMA and CPR certifications (within 1 year), and ambulatory experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 1 year required.
• CPR certification (healthcare providers) within 90 days required.
• Additional certifications may vary by department.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient exams and education.
• Perform venipuncture, vital signs, and specimen collection.
• Document activities in the EMR and coordinate care.
• Support administrative tasks and patient flow across sites.
• Float to multiple sites as needed; participate in team huddles.
