Job summary

US Heart and Vascular is seeking a Primary Medical Assistant to join the Tucson, AZ team. The role involves interviewing patients, recording vital signs, and assisting physicians with routine diagnostic tests like EKGs and treadmill assessments.

Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required. Cardiac experience is preferred but not essential, and knowledge of medical terminology is essential for accurate charting. Travel to satellite clinics is required.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information in patients’ charts.
• Work with the medical assistant tech to ensure patients are roomed in a timely manner.
• Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test.
• Fill out testing orders per physician
• Send out prescriptions per physician orders
• Orders & explain testing to the patient
• Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests
• Escort patients to check-out
• Travel is required

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Primary Medical Assistant to join our team at Pima Heart and Vascular in Tucson, AZ

Responsibilities:

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information in patients’ charts.
• Work with the medical assistant tech to ensure patients are roomed in a timely manner
• Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test
• Fill out testing orders per physician
• Send out prescriptions per physician orders
• Orders & explain testing to the patient
• Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests
• Set up procedures with hospitals to include filling out hospital form and faxing them back
• Review procedure and instructions with the patient
• Escort patients to check-out
• Check voicemails & enter messages into NextGen
• Return patient calls/tasks, even if only to acknowledge receipt of the voicemail, and that an answer is being sought
• Ensure that charts have been checked and the proper paperwork is included
• Prepare bag for travel to satellite clinics
• Other related duties as assigned
• Travel is required
