Job summary

US Heart & Vascular in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Medical Assistant to support cardiovascular clinic operations. You will interview patients, take vital signs, assist with EKGs and tests, manage charting, and coordinate orders with physicians; travel to satellite clinics is required.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with comprehensive benefits and CME allowance, and requires completion of a Medical Assistant program. Cardiac experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required.
• Knowledge in medical terminology.
• Cardiac experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information in patients’ charts.
• Work with the medical assistant tech to ensure patients are roomed in a timely manner.
• Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test.
• Fill out testing orders per physician.
• Send out prescriptions per physician orders.
• Orders & explain testing to the patient.
• Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Set up procedures with hospitals to include filling out hospital form and faxing them back.
• Review procedure and instructions with the patient.
• Escort patients to check-out.
• Check voicemails & enter messages into NextGen.
• Return patient calls/tasks, even if only to acknowledge receipt of the voicemail, and that an answer is being sought.
• Ensure that charts have been checked and the proper paperwork is included.
• Prepare bag for travel to satellite clinics.
• Other related duties as assigned.
