Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking a Medical Assistant for per diem on-call coverage at CHA One Cabot Care Center. The clinic hours are 7am–5pm with 8-hour shifts and variable scheduling. This role supports orthopaedics clinics across CHA’s Boston-area locations.

The M.A. will manage patient flow, room patients, assist with histories, document in the EHR, take vital signs, aid procedures, and book screenings and follow-ups; outreach through MyCHArt is expected.

Qualifications

  • English fluency required; second language is a plus.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Actively and efficiently manage the flow of patients through the clinic.
  • Room patients, obtain medical histories, and document in the EHR.
  • Check vital signs and perform point-of-care testing.
  • Assist providers with clinical procedures and schedule screening tests.
  • Coordinate outreach follow-ups and contact patients by phone.

CHA has an expert orthopedics team that understands bones, muscles, and joints. Our services range from injury evaluation to complex surgery, depending on your specific health needs. We believe that our team provides care that meets or exceeds that found in most other Boston-area hospitals. And, as part of a regional healthcare system, we see patients at three convenient Boston-area locations: CHA Medford Orthopedics, Cambridge Hospital, and the CHA Everett Hospital.

Responsibilities include: Actively and efficiently managing the flow of patients through the clinic, Rooming patients, Assisting providers with medical histories, Documenting in the electronic health record, Checking routine vital signs and point of care testing, Assisting providers with clinical procedures, Booking screening tests as part of the outreach process and booking follow up appointments (e.g., well child visits, vaccine booster visits), Participating in proactive population management of chronic diseases by generating MyCHArt messages, sending templated letters, and calling patients by telephone, Other duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program or one year of previous experience as a medical assistant in lieu of program completion required.
Certifications: Maintains current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification
Linguistic Capabilities: Ability to write and verbally communicate in English. Fluency in a second language is preferred.
Work Experience: Current experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Experience with administrative duties in a clinical setting preferred
