Job summary

PrimeCare Medical is seeking enthusiastic Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) for full-time day and night shifts at the Washington County Jail in Washington, PA. The role focuses on initial patient intake, vital signs, exam area prep, and supporting physicians with a range of clinical tasks.

The successful candidate will have CMA certification or a CMA course diploma, strong communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Medical Assistant Certification or have graduated from a Medical Assistant course and possess the diploma.
• Effective communication skills

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Working knowledge of office and medical equipment
• Working knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Perform initial intake screening on new receptions and take vital signs.
• Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas for the facility.
• Phone verification of medications and medical information.
• Obtain lab specimens including Venipunctures as ordered by the physician.
• Perform treatments ordered by a physician.
• Maintain medication records and administer tuberculin skin testing.
• Typing of reports, letters, and memoranda.
• Answer telephones and process calls; maintain filing system with confidentiality.

PrimeCare Medical is looking for enthusiastic and hard-working Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) to work full time on the day shift in the medical department at the Washington County Jail located in Washington, PA. The ideal Medical Assistant should be upbeat and maintain a pleasant working attitude when dealing with staff and patients.

Available Shifts:

Full-Time Days and Nights (6 am-6:30 pm and 6 pm- 6:30 am) with rotating weekends

Job Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of daily tasks and duties including performing the initial intake screening on new receptions, taking vital signs, and completing all appropriate intake forms per written protocol. In addition, the Medical Assistant will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas for the facility. Other responsibilities of the Medical Assistant will include:

• Phoning verification of medications and medical information.
• Obtaining lab specimens as ordered by the physician (to include Venipunctures).
• Performing various treatments ordered by a Physician.
• Maintaining medication records.
• Administering tuberculin skin testing on new intakes and on annual follow-ups due on all inmates/patients.
• Typing of various reports, letters, and memoranda.
• Answering telephone and process calls.
• Maintaining the filing system and confidentiality of information at all times.
• Following universal precautions at all times.
• Maintaining a pleasant working attitude.
• Any/all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.

This position provides a 2 week orientation period where you will be training on the job and shadowing with the nursing staff.

Requirements

The Medical Assistant is a fast-paced position, and as such, we must have someone who has the ability to multi-task and has a good grasp of patient assessment skills. In addition, the Medical Assistant must also bring some clerical experience and ability to type to the position in order to be considered. Other requirements for the Clerical Medical Assistant include:

• Currently, hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have graduated from a Medical Assistant course and have the diploma
