Job summary

PrimeCare Medical Inc. is seeking aCertified Medical Assistant to support the Cumberland County Prison medical department. The role involves patient intake, vital signs, exam area preparation, and clerical duties in a fast-paced correctional setting.

The ideal candidate has an approved Medical Assistant/Secretary program and a current CMA certification, with strong multitasking, communication, and clerical skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and office equipment is required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an approved Medical Assistant/Secretary program.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification.
• Clerical experience and typing ability.
• Pleasant telephone manner and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge of office equipment and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial intake screening on new receptions, take vital signs and complete intake forms per protocol.
• Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas for the facility.
• Phoning verification of medications and medical information.
• Obtain lab specimens as ordered by the physician (including venipunctures).
• Perform treatments ordered by a physician.
• Maintain medication records.
• Administer tuberculin skin testing on new intakes and annual follow-ups.
• Typing of reports, letters and memoranda.
• Answering telephone and processing calls.
• Maintain filing system and confidentiality of information at all times.
• Follow universal precautions at all times.
• Maintain a pleasant working attitude.

Job Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of daily tasks and duties including performing the initial intake screening on new receptions, taking vital signs and completing all appropriate intake forms per written protocol. In addition, the Medical Assistant will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas for the facility.

The Medical Assistant is a fast paced position, and as such, we must have someone who has the ability to multi-task and has a good grasp of patient assessment skills. In addition, the Medical Assistant must have completed an approved Medical Assistant/Secretary program and also bring some clerical experience and ability to type to the position in order to be considered.

Other requirements for the Clerical Medical Assistant include:

• Currently hold a Medical Assistant Certification

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
