Job summary

Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our primary care team. You’ll welcome patients, take vital signs, assist clinicians, administer vaccines, and support lab workflows in a fast-paced clinic.

You will document in the EHR, coordinate prescriptions, educate patients, and participate in trainings. Cross-training across medical disciplines enhances your growth within a mission-driven community health setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and prepare patients for visits, collecting vital signs and health information.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments within your scope of practice.
• Administer medications and vaccines in accordance with provider orders and within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
• Perform routine tests (such as vision and hearing screenings) and assist with lab specimens.
• Maintain accurate documentation using our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Help manage prescription refill requests and medication reconciliations.
• Provide clear patient education and support as directed by the provider.
• Participate in team huddles, trainings, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Occasionally travel to support other MCHC sites as needed.
• Gain experience by cross-training in family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry, and specialty services.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
