Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent's Cardiology in St. Johns, Florida is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time day shift.

You will prepare patients for examinations, assist physicians during procedures, and manage patient records with care. You’ll also handle routine clerical tasks and keep treatment areas stocked and clean. Minimum requirements include a BLS provider certification within 30 days, and either a high school diploma or equivalent plus relevant experience.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date; American Heart Association or Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.
• National Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, AMT/AAMA); NCCT, AAMA accepted.
• Basic Machine Operators certification preferred.
• FL State registration as a BMO Operator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and assist physician with procedures.
• Record vital signs and medical histories in patient charts.
• Prepare treatment rooms and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and filing.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician with medical procedures and treatments.
• Record patient vital signs, medical histories, and other information accurately in patient charts.
• Manage clinical logistics, including preparing treatment rooms and maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Perform essential clerical duties, such as answering phones, filing, and maintaining patient records.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.
• Nat'l Medical Assistant (MA) Certification preferred - CMA (Cert. Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant)/AAMA Cert. (American Association of Medical Assistants). NCCT, AAMA, or AMT are acceptable certification sites.
• Completion of Basic Machine Operators (BMO) cert. preferred.
• Current registration with State of FL as a BMO Operator preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

What Additional Preferences We’re Seeking

• Minimum of two years of clinical experience, with strong multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting multiple healthcare providers, including managing patient phone communications and coordinating clinical tasks to ensure efficient clinic operations.
