Summary

Public Health Seattle & King County’s Community Health Services (CHS) division is looking for a Medical Assistant to join float pool team. This position will serve patients at multiple programs in the CHS division such as primary care and sexual reproductive health. Medical assistant will work one on one with a provider and perform tasks such as taking vitals, performing lab tests, vaccine administration, and other tasks delegated by providers.

Job Duties

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform tasks such as injections, lab draws, vision and hearing screenings
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified
  • Completed training from an accredited program
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license and the ability to travel between clinic sites

Desired:

  • Bilingual candidate
  • Demonstrated skill in using the electronic health record, EPIC
  • Experience working with patients from vulnerable populations
  • Experience using trauma informed and harm reduction principles

Work Schedule

This position will be Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

Work Location

This float position will have the chance to cover the following sites and programs depending on staffing needs: Downtown (primary care, pathways clinic, refugee clinic), Eastgate (primary care, sexual reproductive health clinic), Kent (sexual reproductive health clinic), Auburn (sexual reproductive health clinic), Federal Way (sexual reproductive health clinic).

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
