Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting under a licensed provider. Responsibilities include vitals, history intake, specimen handling, immunizations, and patient education.

The role supports walk-in patients seven days a week with onsite labs and x-ray capabilities. Experience in outpatient care and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Medical Assisting or equivalent.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
  • Experience in an outpatient setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vitals, medical history, and visit reason; prepare patient for exam.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure tests are performed accurately and promptly.
  • Administer prescribed medications per procedure.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for processing.
  • Perform lab tests and equipment maintenance per instructions.
  • Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
  • Perform drug screening per rules and regulations.
  • Document immunizations accurately per protocol.
  • Arrange physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize equipment.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
