Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) provides general medical care in outpatient clinics. This role supports licensed providers by taking vitals, medical history, and coordinating visits.

Responsibilities include explaining procedures, performing tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, and maintaining accurate documentation. Experience with medical assisting and preferred certifications are valued, with opportunities across AFC’s franchised locations.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent in medical assisting; 6 months to 1 year experience preferred.
  • AMT registration and AAMA certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare for physical exam.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and on time.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedure.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for processing.
  • Perform lab tests and equipment maintenance per instructions.
  • Respond to lab messages and call-back requests.
  • Conduct drug screening procedures as required.
  • Document immunizations accurately and per procedure.
  • Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
