Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting, under licensed provider supervision. The role includes taking vitals, preparing patients for exams, and performing routine procedures.

Responsibilities include managing patient flow, assisting with labs, immunizations, and documentation, while adhering to approved procedures and safety standards across AFC locations.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent; AMT registered and AAMA certification preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year related experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff.
• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare patient for exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all tests are performed accurately and timely.
• Administer medications and treatments per procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for processing.
• Perform lab tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance.
• Coordinate laboratory oversight with Lab Director and Medical Director as needed.
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Document immunizations and store appropriately.
• Assist with physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies; maintain documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director, Lab Consultant, and Medical Director as needed
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
