Job summary

American Family Care seeks a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities include taking patient vitals and history, preparing patients for exams, administering medications as approved, drawing blood, performing lab tests, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year program in medical assisting; AMT registered and AAMA certification preferred.
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff.
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare patient for physical exam.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as approved.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference or in-house processing.
  • Perform laboratory tests and maintain equipment according to standard procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with Lab Director and Medical Director as needed.

AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director, Lab Consultant, and Medical Director as needed
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
