Overview

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Medical Assistant (RRTHC).

The preferred schedule for this position is four 10 hour shifts.

The listed wage reflects the entry‑level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.

Under the direction of the assigned Nursing Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing, the candidate works as an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for the facilitation and delivery of high quality, direct patient care.

Qualifications

• Certification as Medical Assistant or 2 years of related healthcare experience or education related to medical assistant.
• Knowledge of medical terminology/procedures, human anatomy and medical law/ethics.
• CPR certification required.
• Must be able to function and perform in a fast‑paced environment, problem‑solve, be a self‑starter and active team player.
• Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
• Indian preference.
• Completion of pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background screening, and tuberculosis test required.

Responsibilities

• Work as a collaborative part of the healthcare team to assist with initial admission of patients to the Health Center, including new patient intake/data entry, processing of release of information, providing support to medical reception staff, coordinating with medical records and gathering health information.
• Intake patients for appointments, verifying check‑in procedures, reviewing medical screenings, timely rooming, obtaining vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, pain levels, oxygen saturations), confirming chief complaints, reviewing medical history, allergies, medications, and updating the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Anticipate medical provider’s needs and set up medical procedures, including preparation of lab specimens, procedural tray set‑up for vasectomies, circumcisions, IUD placement/removals, sutures, casts, pap and pelvic examinations.
• Enter patient data for compliance with quality measures (QIP, GPRA, Partnership Measures) for facility reimbursement.
• Assist with patient flow management, acting as a liaison to inform patients of current status, wait time, relaying pertinent information to providers, and facilitating follow‑up scheduling and rescheduling as needed.
• Participate in patient education, ensuring patients are provided resources to enhance understanding of medications, treatments, disease management, expectations, and when to follow up. Assist with explaining treatments and procedures at the start of applicable appointments.
• Administer routine immunizations, performing rights of medication administration (right drug, dose, route, reason, patient, time, documentation) and identifying appropriate injection sites (adult and well‑child) while adhering to antiseptic technique and medication preparation and delivery.
