JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the assigned Nursing Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing, the Medical Assistant at the Churn Creek Health Center works as an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for the facilitation and delivery of high quality, direct patient care. The preferred schedule for this position is Sunday through Wednesday, 7:00 am‑6:00 pm.
REQUIREMENTS / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or at least 2 years of related healthcare experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology/procedures, human anatomy and medical law/ethics.
- CPR certification required.
- Ability to function and perform in a fast‑paced environment, problem‑solve, be a self‑starter and active team player.
- Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
- Indian preference.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Assist with initial admission of patients to the Health Center, including new patient intake and data entry, processing of release of information, and support of medical reception staff.
- Perform patient intake for appointments: verification of check‑in procedures, review of medical screenings, timely rooming, obtaining vital signs, confirming chief complaints, reviewing patient history and allergies, and entering information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Anticipate medical provider needs and proficiently set up medical procedures, including preparation of lab specimens, procedural tray set‑up for vasectomies, circumcisions, IUD placement/removals, sutures, casts, pap and pelvic examinations.
- Enter patient data for compliance with quality measures (Quality Improvement Process, Government Performance and Results Act, and Partnership Measures) for facility reimbursement.
- Assist with patient flow management by acting as a liaison, informing patients of status and wait times, relaying pertinent information to providers, and facilitating follow‑up scheduling or rescheduling of appointments.
- Participate in patient education, ensuring patients receive resources to understand medications, treatments, disease management, expectations, and when to follow up. Assist with explaining treatments and procedures at the start of applicable appointments.
- Deliver routine immunizations and perform rights of medication administration (right drug, dose, route, reason, patient, time, documentation), identify appropriate injection sites, and adhere to antiseptic technique during medication preparation and delivery.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
