Job summary

Meliora Clinic in Portland, OR is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our holistic primary care team. You will take patient vitals, perform lab tests, draw blood, administer vaccines, and support providers with procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality and high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or higher.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Completion and maintenance of all regulatory trainings.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

  • Take and document patient vitals during the rooming process.
  • Perform and process lab tests per provider orders.
  • Draw blood per provider orders and process samples as indicated.
  • Administer vaccinations and injections per provider orders in accordance with CDC recommendations and company protocols.
  • Assist providers with procedures as needed.
  • Contact patients regarding lab results.
  • Process referrals per provider orders and follow up with patients on referrals.
  • Notify the Practice Manager of needed supplies and vaccinations.
  • Answer the telephone.
  • Enter notes, ticklers and follow-ups in the EHR as appropriate.
  • Cover the front desk during rest periods and as needed/scheduled.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Taking and documenting patient vitals during the rooming process
  • Performing and processing lab tests per provider orders
  • Drawing blood per provider orders and processing samples as indicated
  • Administering vaccinations and injections per provider orders in accordance with CDC recommendations and company protocols
  • Assisting providers with procedures as needed
  • Contacting patients regarding lab results
  • Processing referrals per provider orders and following up with patients on referrals
  • Notifying the Practice Manager of needed supplies and vaccinations
  • Answering the telephone
  • Entering notes, ticklers and follow-ups in the Electronic Health Record as appropriate
  • Covering the front desk during rest periods and as needed/scheduled
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times
  • Provide guidance within the scope of the role or as directed by the provider
  • Ensure exam rooms and lab are clean and stocked at all times
  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly disposed of at all times
  • Fully utilize EHR to document labs, referrals, prior authorizations, etc.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or greater
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • Completion and maintenance of all regulatory trainings
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for Healthcare Providers
Key Competencies and Skills
  • Two or more years of experience providing Medical Assistant services in a clinical setting.
  • Experience exercising sound judgment and applying critical thinking skills to solve problems
  • Experience collaborating with providers and specialists to meet the routine and non-routine needs of the business.
  • Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
  • Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.
