Position Overview

The Medical Assistant supports examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of an urgent care provider. Responsibilities include managing check-in and registration, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording information, and preparing treatment rooms. May also involve drawing blood samples and preparing specimens for lab analysis.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $18 - $22

Bonus eligibility up to $600/month

Job Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma required
• Medical Assisting Program graduation preferred

Work Experience

• Front Desk experience preferred

Licenses / Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire, through ARC or AHA
• One of the following certifications is required:

• CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA (verified through respective certifying bodies)

In lieu of a specific MA certification, the following are also acceptable at hire:

• Nursing or LPN/RN certification
• EMT certification through NREMT
• Paramedic licensure

Essential Functions

• Register patients, verify insurance and eligibility
• Process co-pays, schedule appointments, and coordinate referrals
• Answer patient questions and inform them of their care status
• Prepare patients for exams and record medical histories
• Perform vital signs and escalate critical cases
• Conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis)
• Maintain supplies and cleanliness of exam and reception areas
• Manage medical records and correspondence
• Handle phone calls and follow-up calls
• Perform opening and closing duties, including cash handling and securing the facility
• Ensure equipment calibration and maintain quality logs
• Perform other duties as assigned
