Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant provides nursing care to patients in the physician's offices under the supervision of the Clinic Physician. The supervising physician delineates the privileges and duties through skill assessment. They assess the health status of assigned patients and collaborate with the nursing staff and the Physician to establish a basis for patient care. They contribute to the planning of nursing interventions, administer medications and treatments in accordance with policy, and work under the direct supervision of the clinic physician/provider. They document and communicate changes in patient condition to other members of the healthcare team, provide information regarding disease processes and diagnostic procedures, and assist in scheduling referrals, appointments, and consults. They participate in staff development, continuing education programs, performance improvement, and quality checks. They demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to quality work that promotes customer-centered services. They respect patients' rights to privacy, adapt care to the patient's developmental/age-specific needs, and take responsibility for their own continuing education. The Certified Medical Assistant must follow hospital/clinic policies and procedures. Additional duties outside their department may be requested to assist in other areas within their capabilities.

Qualifications
