Job summary

UCFS Healthcare is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support Primary Care Providers by preparing patients for examinations, performing procedures, and documenting vital signs and care information. The role emphasizes accurate data collection, infection-control standards, and smooth patient flow.

The candidate will assist with WIC re-certification, lead reports, and other administrative tasks, while collaborating with providers and staff to support high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; MA or CNA training with clinical experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification and MA or CNA certificate required.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and compassionate patient care skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the patient for examination, escorts to room, records assessment data and prepares specimens as needed.
• Maintains clean, stocked exam rooms and inventory; performs quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Ensures forms and flow sheets are in record; supports EHR documentation and interoperability.
• May scribe for Providers in the EHR during visits to enter notes and information.
• Coordinates outside referrals and scheduling for additional tests and radiology as ordered.

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant to assist our Primary Care Providers with the preparation of patients for examinations, perform assigned procedures, and collect and document patient care information (vital signs, height, weight, hemoglobin, etc.) with strong communication between patients and providers. This role will process information needed for WIC re‑certification, DPH lead reports, and other administrative functions as assigned. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for maintaining clinical areas based on infection control standards and patient flow expectations.

UCFS Hours of Operation: Open 8:00am - 7:00pm; Hours Vary By Day & Location.

(We are also open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month).

Expected Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours/week; Monday from12:30pm - 4:30pm, Wednesday, & Friday from 8:30am - 5:0pm.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares the patient for examination. Escorts patient to the room; obtains and records assessment information; performs screening tests/procedures; prepares specimens for transport. Adheres to universal precautions and departmental policies and procedures.
• Ensures clean and stocked exam rooms; maintains inventory of supplies. Performs quality control/improvement activities as assigned; operates and maintains equipment per manufacture instructions.
• Ensures that forms/flow sheets are in record as may be needed by Provider, by fax or electronic record.
• May work side-by-side with Provider as a scribe to chart and enter notes into EHR system during visits.
• Demonstrates customer service in responding to patient needs. Contacts patients as instructed regarding missed appointments or test results. Schedules appointments for outside tests (X-ray, MRI, CT etc.) as ordered by the Provider. Coordinates outside referrals to radiology as ordered by the provider.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma
• Completion of training course resulting in a degree or certificate as Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant with clinical experience

Minimum Certificates, Licenses, Registration

• Current CPR certification
• Current MA or CNA certificate

Salary Description

$21 - 22 / hour
