Job summary

Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is assisting with the hire of a Medical Assistant for a Bronx, New York, on-site position. The role is a four-month contract with extension potential, with a Sunday through Wednesday schedule and varying shifts.

Pay ranges from $22.30 to $24.30 per hour, based on experience. The job requires medical assisting credentials and at least one year of experience, with benefits and weekly pay through Adecco.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant registration or certification required/active.
• BLS certification preferred.
• One year of Medical Assistant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competence in direct patient care and assists MDs with procedures.
• Performs clinical duties per policies and protocols.
• Addresses patient needs and communicates findings promptly.
• Directs patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.
• Assists physician or nurse during exams and procedures.
• Performs essential duties such as taking vital signs and basic tests.
• Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies as instructed.

Position Type : Four-month contract, opportunity for extension!

Schedule : Sunday through Wednesday, Sun- 9am to 6pm, Mon,Tues – 9am to 9pm, Wed- 9am to 3pm

Pay : $22.30 to $24.30 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant

• Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients in established area(s) of practice, and assisting MDs with procedures
• Performs clinical duties within scope of practice complying with the accepted standards, policies, and protocols
• Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, focusing on addressing each patient’s individual and family needs at the time of service; communicates identified needs in a timely manner
• Direct and/or escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner
• Demonstrated clinical competence when assisting physician/mid-level healthcare professional and/or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments
• Performs authorized procedures competently (i.e. vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests) as directed by physician or nurse in clinical practice area
• Seeks validation/guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professional and/or nurse when necessary
• Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed to do so by physician
• Inspects, cleans/prepares and processes instruments/equipment according to manufacturers or guidelines
• Processes specimens for transport to laboratory, ensuring that specimens are properly labeled and appropriate orders have been placed in EPIC
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications of the Medical Assistant

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Medical Assistant registration or certification
• BLS Certification preferred
• One year of medical assistant experience

Pay Details: $22.30 to $24.30 per hour
