Job summary

Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is assisting our client in recruiting a Medical Assistant for an on-site position in San Antonio, Texas. The role is a one-year contract with an opportunity for a full-time offer.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Pay ranges from $22.30 to $24.30 per hour, based on experience. Qualifications include CMA or registration, BLS preferred, and bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Medical Assistant registration or certification.
• BLS Certification preferred.
• Prior medical assistant experience.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competence in direct patient care and assists MDs with procedures.
• Performs clinical duties within scope of practice per policies and protocols.
• Represents proactive patient care and communicates needs to the team.
• Directs patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.
• Assists physicians and nurses during exams and procedures.
• Performs vital signs, vision screening, and selected lab tests.
• Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies as instructed.
• Inspects, cleans and processes instruments/equipment per guidelines.
• Processes specimens for transport to the lab with proper labeling.

Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant

• Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients in established area(s) of practice, and assisting MDs with procedures
• Performs clinical duties within scope of practice complying with the accepted standards, policies, and protocols
• Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, focusing on addressing each patient’s individual and family needs at the time of service; communicates identified needs in a timely manner
• Direct and/or escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner
• Demonstrated clinical competence when assisting physician/mid-level healthcare professional and/or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments
• Performs authorized procedures competently (i.e. vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests) as directed by physician or nurse in clinical practice area
• Seeks validation/guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professional and/or nurse when necessary
• Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed to do so by physician
• Inspects, cleans/prepares and processes instruments/equipment according to manufacturers or guidelines
• Processes specimens for transport to laboratory, ensuring that specimens are properly labeled and appropriate orders have been placed in EPIC
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications of the Medical Assistant

• Bilingual with English and Spanish preferred

Pay Details:

$22.30 to $24.30 per hour
