Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in North Massapequa, NY, is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our outpatient team. You will manage patient intakes, record vital signs, collect specimens, and support providers during visits.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, EKGs, patient preparation, sterilization, and data entry. Requires Medical Assistant Certificate and HS diploma; EMR proficiency preferred and reliable transportation to NYH locations.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma are required or equivalent.
• Preference for proficiency with EMR systems.
• Must be able to sit for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of standard precautions and PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.

Job Description

Medical Assistant

Location: North Massapequa, NY

Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hr shifts Mon-Fri 7:15am-6:00pm

Organization: New York Health (NYH) - PCP

In this role, you will:

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests
• Record patients' vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
