Job summary

Jobtailor in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dermatology team. You will assist physicians in medical, cosmetic, and laser procedures, and help manage patient flow.

You will document treatments, prior authorizations, and prescriptions using EMR, and prepare exam rooms. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Open weekday and weekend availability within 8am–5pm, and willingness to work in a team with continuous training.

Qualifications

• Previous healthcare experience is required.
• Dermatology experience is required.
• Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
• Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Excellent patient relation and customer services skills.
• Open availability to work during weekdays and weekends.
• Availability Monday through Friday within operating hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm.
• Open flexibility to help cover in a team environment.
• Nationally Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance quality of service and care offered to patients and providers
• Assist physicians in medical, cosmetic, and laser procedures
• Assist providers in recording prescribed treatments, medications, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorizations, and procedures within established guidelines
• Understand provider-to-patient flow and anticipate providers’ next steps
• Prepare rooms before and after patients, including checking equipment at the beginning of each shift
• Provide pre-care and post-care treatment instructions
• Scan retail and cosmetic products and medical supplies daily and alert Head MA and/or GM of low supplies
• Perform inventory responsibilities and stock supplies and equipment as requested
• Attend in-house training and continuing education opportunities
