Primor Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in delivering value-based primary care. You will prepare patients, assist during exams, administer vaccines and tests, and coordinate follow-up to ensure seamless care.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a clinical setting, strong medical terminology knowledge, EMR experience (Athenahealth/ECW/Epic), and excellent communication skills. This on-site role supports a high-quality patient experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; higher degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of healthcare or clinical experience, patient-facing preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and health insurance processes.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems: Athenahealth, ECW, Epic.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations: obtain vital signs, medical histories, medication reconciliation, document in EHR.
  • Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Administer medications, injections, immunizations, EKGs, and point-of-care tests per policy.
  • Coordinate labs, referrals, prescription refills, and patient follow-up for continuity of care.
  • Educate patients on medications, preventive care, and provider instructions with professionalism.
  • Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms adhering to infection control and HIPAA standards.
  • Accurately document encounters and orders to support quality care and reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to promote efficient patient flow and exceptional experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Medical Assistant is an integral member of the clinical care team, providing high-quality patient care and supporting providers in delivering exceptional, value-based primary care services. This position combines clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with providers, practice leadership, and front office staff to promote quality outcomes, operational excellence, and compassionate care for every patient.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • You prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, completing medication reconciliation, and documenting clinical information accurately in the electronic health record (Athena and/or eClinicalWorks).
  • You assist providers during examinations, treatments, and minor office procedures while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and a positive clinical experience.
  • You administer medications, injections, immunizations, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection in accordance with organizational policies and scope of practice.
  • You coordinate laboratory testing, referrals, prescription refill requests, and patient follow-up to promote continuity of care and timely patient communication.
  • You educate patients on medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and provider instructions while answering questions with professionalism, compassion, and empathy.
  • You maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms while adhering to infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety standards.
  • You accurately document patient encounters, clinical procedures, and provider orders to support quality care, regulatory compliance, and appropriate reimbursement.
  • You collaborate with providers, Patient Service Representatives, and clinic leadership to promote efficient patient flow, support value-based care initiatives, and deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare or clinical setting, preferably in a patient-facing role
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and health insurance processes
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems (e.g., Athenahealth, ECW, Epic)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
