Job summary

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support the outpatient clinic and affiliated practice. The CMA will prepare patients for exams, perform vital signs, and help with documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant certification is required or willing to obtain within 90 days.
• BLS (AHA) certification preferred and to be maintained.
• Minimum one year of public-facing healthcare experience.

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden Physician Management) – Gadsden, AL
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for Gadsden Physician Management clinic , affiliated with Riverview Regional Medical Center. A lso referred to as a n Outpatient Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) , Family Medicine Medical Assistant Medicine or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), our clinic supports providers by preparing patients for exams, performing clinical tasks like taking vitals, administering injections, and documenting in the EMR. They also help with patient education, care coordination, and front office duties to ensure efficient and high-quality care.

• You must be a Certified Medical Assistant from the National Healthcare Association or other nationally recognized organization to move forward in this position, or be willing to get your certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by taking vitals, updating medical history, and noting current symptoms
• Assist with clinical procedures such as EKGs, injections, wound care, and immunizations
• Collect and process lab specimens including blood draws, throat swabs, and urinalysis
• Administer medications, coordinate referrals and follow-ups, and document care in the EMR
• Provide patient education, support infection control, and help with scheduling and front office tasks

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Medical Assistant Certification perferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
• Minimum one year work experience in public contact job.
• Work experience in health care preferred.
