Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Espanola, NM seeks a skilled Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting. You will prepare patients for visits, support exam rooms, assist with treatments, and handle administrative tasks tied to scheduling and referrals.

The role requires MA training, BLS certification, and completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills within 90 days. Eligible for sign-on and a commitment to continuous safety and quality care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months MA experience or completion of MA/Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required.
  • Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required.
  • Maintains current certifications in required emergency response training (e.g. BLS).
  • ROT Registered Orthopedic Technologist required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient for rooming and exam.
  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed.
  • Perform suture/staple removal and dressing changes.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Provide basic education to patients.
  • Set up aseptic and sterile procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Common responsibilities include preparing the patient for the visit, maintaining efficient patient flow, assisting the provider with treatments and procedures, medication administration, support for clerical functions to include scheduling, referrals, authorization and in-basket support with the electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing medical assistant procedures after completion of competency within organizations MA scope of work, under the supervision of a provider and PHS policy.
  • Prepares patient for rooming and exam
  • Prepares and administers medications and immunizations
  • Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
  • Provides basic education to patients
  • Sets up aseptic and sterile procedures
  • Perform other duties as required
