Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Espanola, NM is hiring a skilled Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic. You will prepare patients for visits, support efficient patient flow, assist the provider with treatments and procedures, and help with medications and immunizations.

The role requires completing an MA program or having six months of MA experience, plus BLS certification. Training, tuition reimbursement, and various well-being benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of MA experience or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program.
  • Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required.
  • Maintains current certifications in required emergency response training (e.g. BLS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform MA procedures under supervision of a provider and PHS policy.
  • Prepare patient for rooming and exam.
  • Prepare and administer medications and immunizations.
  • Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes.
  • Collect laboratory specimens.
  • Provide basic education to patients.
  • Set up aseptic and sterile procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
