Job summary

Equity Staffing Group is seeking a Medical Assistant for an on-site role in El Paso, TX. This 3-month contract may extend or convert to full-time. Start date is ASAP, with a typical 8am-5pm shift.

You will assist with patient vitals, EKG tracing, HIPAA compliance, and use of EMR/EHR systems, scheduling, and billing tools while communicating clearly in both English and Spanish. The role emphasizes strong customer service and adherence to internal protocols.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification and BLS.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of clinical procedures and vital signs assessment.
• Interpret ECG traces and understand medical terminology and exposure risks.
• Adhere to HIPAA and relevant policies and scope of practice.
• Follow internal protocols, procedures, and department workflows.
• Utilize scheduling, practice management, records management, and billing systems.
• Translate medical terminology for customers clearly.
• Assess patient understanding to tailor clinical information shared.
• Operate MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and EHR/EMR systems.
• Provide strong customer service in English and Spanish.

Position: Medical Assistant

Duration: 3 Month contract to start, potential for Extension/Conversion to FTE

Start Date: ASAP

Description:

• Demonstrate understanding of relevant medical procedures (e.g., how to assess patient vital signs; how to analyze EKG tracing)
• Demonstrate understanding of medical terminology, precautions, and exposure risks (e.g., bloodborne pathogens)
• Demonstrate understanding of relevant state and/or federal policies, regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and scope of practice
• Demonstrate understanding of internal company/department-specific protocols, procedures, policies, and workflows
• Demonstrate understanding of relevant computer systems (e.g., scheduling; practice management; records management; claims/billing)
• Translate/communicate medical terminology/information to customers in a manner that is clear, concise, and understandable
• Assess customer/patient understanding (e.g., ask questions) in order to determine what clinical services information (e.g., medical; dietary; transportation) to communicate
• Demonstrate understanding of relevant software applications (e.g., MS Word; MS Excel; MS PowerPoint; MS Outlook; EHR/EMR
• Demonstrate understanding of relevant computer systems (e.g., scheduling; practice management; records management; Customer Service Skills
