Job summary

Equity Staffing Group is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join a patient-focused healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will support providers and clinical staff while delivering high-quality patient care and an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
• Obtain and document patient information accurately in the medical record.
• Perform vital clinical functions within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
• Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection.
• Perform EKGs and simple specimen collection.
• Administer non-IV medications as directed.
• Assist with wound care, including dressing changes, superficial staple removal, and obtaining cultures.
• Prepare, clean, stock, and organize exam and treatment rooms.
• Sterilize medical instruments using an autoclave and perform equipment quality-control checks.
• Assist physicians, providers, and nursing staff with patient care.
• Conduct telephone and in-person intake and gather patient information.
• Coordinate patient care as directed by providers and established policies.
• Follow Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO), infection-control procedures, and patient privacy/confidentiality requirements.
• Provide professional, compassionate customer service to patients.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification OR ability to obtain certification within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or Military Training Network, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills with intermediate Excel proficiency.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Bilingual skills.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods, use fine motor skills to operate medical equipment, and lift, push, or pull more than 35 lbs. with assistance. The position may occasionally involve exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
