Job summary

Dayton Gastroenterology is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our Beavercreek, OH clinic. The role requires knowledge of medical terminology and BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

On-the-job training is available, and experience in a medical office is preferred but not required. You will support physicians, document vital signs, collect specimens, manage referrals, and assist with scheduling and patient communications in a patient-centered environment backed by

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and document in patient chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record patient health history.
• Assist the physician with office visits and emergencies as needed.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Coordinate referrals as directed by physician and respond to patient questions.
• Assist with scheduling of visits, procedures, tests, x-rays, and hospital admissions.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and documents all information in patient’s chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results
• Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments as necessary.

The Must Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant a plus but not required.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• BLS certified required, or ability to get in 90 days of employment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
