Job description

Description
Be Part of a Team Connecting Behavioral & Physical Healthcare.

Riverbend Community Mental Health is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Community Service Program (CSP) as part of our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) interdisciplinary team.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an integrated behavioral healthcare environment where your work directly supports nurses, prescribers, case managers, and other treatment team members in delivering coordinated, person-centered care.

The Medical Assistant serves as an important connection between clinical information, healthcare providers, and the people we serve. You will help ensure that vital health information is gathered, documented, tracked, organized, and communicated to the right team member at the right time.

If you are detail-oriented, organized, clinically minded, and passionate about helping people receive coordinated care, we would love to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

Make a real impact—every single day. Join one of the state’s largest and most respected community mental health providers, where your work directly changes the lives of local individuals and families. At Riverbend, you’re not just filling a role—you’re helping transform lives and strengthen our community.

At Riverbend, you’ll be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team that is deeply committed to both client care and employee growth. We foster a supportive and inclusive environment where your voice matters, your contributions are recognized, and your career can thrive.

If you’re looking for meaningful work, a strong team culture, and real opportunities for professional growth through training, certifications, and advancement—Riverbend is the place to build your future while making a difference.

What You’ll Do
  • Support whole-person care by collecting and documenting vital signs, health histories, medications, screenings, and other important health information.
  • Connect the care team by gathering medical records, lab results, referrals, and follow-up information from hospitals, primary care providers, specialists, pharmacies, and other healthcare partners.
  • Close gaps in care by identifying missing or overdue health information, preventive screenings, appointments, and follow-up needs.
  • Keep care moving by tracking outstanding items, maintaining work queues, and ensuring unresolved needs reach the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Support CCBHC quality initiatives by helping with quality measures, population health activities, preventive care, and care coordination.
  • Strengthen the clinical team by preparing relevant information for appointments, care coordination, and interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Make an impact behind the scenes through accurate documentation, outreach, follow-up, and coordination that help individuals stay connected to the care they need.
  • Protect confidential information while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, CCBHC requirements, and organizational policies.
Who You Are:

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and compassionate Medical Assistant who understands that effective healthcare goes beyond the appointment itself.

You are someone who:

  • Can manage multiple follow-up tasks, work queues, and competing priorities.
  • Is comfortable communicating with healthcare providers, pharmacies, hospitals, and other community partners.
  • Understands the importance of timely follow-up and closing gaps in care.
  • Can work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment regarding when information or concerns should be escalated to a licensed clinical team member.
  • Maintains confidentiality and understands the importance of protecting sensitive health information.
  • Is comfortable working with electronic health records and other tracking systems.
  • Brings a person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach to interactions with individuals and colleagues.
  • Is committed to supporting integrated physical and behavioral healthcare.
What You’ll Bring
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Experience in behavioral health, primary care, community health, or integrated healthcare preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and auto insurance with minimum coverage of 100,00/300,00 are essential.
