Job Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical support to patients and assists care providers with clinical and administrative support. Medical Assistant in the Level 2 Outpatient Specialty Clinics at North Campus. This position will support the Outpatient Specialty Clinics on Level 2 (Pediatric Surgery, Urology, Cardiology, Pulmonary, ENT, Neurology, Rheumatology, Allergy) and Level 5 (Developmental Pediatrics) at North Campus.

Additional Information

• Location: North Metro Outpatient Specialty Clinics includes North Campus, Wheat Ridge, and Uptown locations. While this role will be primarily based out of North Campus, if there is a staffing need at our Wheat Ridge or Uptown partner locations our team will assist with coverage.
• Job Details: 1.0 FTE; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
• Shift: Full-time, M-F, 7:30AM to 4:00PM. Occasional day Saturday shift is required in Pulmonary / Cardiology at North Campus (estimated 2 times per calendar year).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Conducts quality checks.
• Provides general office support including phone and fax management.
• Serves as the preceptor for new staff, including orientation, education, skill validation, tracking, assessment and monitoring progress.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and The Joint Commission standards.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. Reports areas of concern to next care provider.
• Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic testing; disposing of contaminated supplies; cleaning or preparing for sterilization of medical instruments; administering medications per policy and procedures; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies and other duties within scope.
• Assists in balancing workloads, coordinates and maintains clinic flow by coordinating with providers, and monitoring patient flow.
• Provides phlebotomy.
• Completes lab test follow up and medical record documentation.
• Prepares and completes medical record for visit by recording patient information, treatment, and test results. Assists with patient "MyChart" enrollment.
• Participates in the standardized education of patients through written instructions and answering questions as directed by provider.
• Independently initiates referrals and insurance pre-authorizations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degrees: High School diploma or GED
• Area of Study: Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Experience: None required, but pediatric and/or allergy experience preferred.
• Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support with at least six months prior to expiration.

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $20.00 to $25.09
