Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist with examination and treatment under a physician's direction. You will interview patients, take vital signs, and prepare rooms for exams, while maintaining a clean, orderly clinical environment.

The role includes clerical duties and materials management as part of daily operations, with a focus on patient comfort and safety. A supportive team and patient-centered care are core to this position.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Job Description

• Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
