Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham seeks a Medical Assistant to support Cardiology Specialists of Birmingham. You will assist with patient examinations, take vital signs, interview patients, and prepare treatment rooms under a physician's direction.

Travel to satellite offices is required. The role also covers light clerical duties and materials management to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality care. Eligibility includes AHA/Red Cross BLS and school-equivalency requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire; American Heart Association or Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examination and treatment of patients under physician supervision.

Job Description

Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

• Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
