Spero Health, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Barbourville team in Kentucky. This role supports an integrated care model with counseling, case management, and medically assisted treatment.

You will contribute to efficient operations and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of MA experience, CPR certification, and a strong commitment to treating the whole person within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred.
• 1-3 years MA experience considered an asset; CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments.
• Answer incoming calls and check voice messages.
• Check patients in/out and manage patient flow.
• Take vitals, perform urine drug screens, assist with evaluations.
• Administer medications as directed and document in EHR.
• Obtain prior-authorizations from insurers.
• Handle daily financials and payments; cash collection.

The Medical Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Scheduling patient appointments.


• Answering in-coming calls and checking voice messages regularly.


• Check patients in/out, monitor patient flow.


• Perform urine drug screens, takes vitals, assist with patient evaluations.


• Call in patient medication as directed by Physician.


• Input accurate patient information into electronic health record.


• Sending prior-authorizations to insurance companies.


• Perform daily financial summary and balance of payments received.


• Responsible for cash collection and verification of benefits.


• Review the Prescription Monitoring Database.


• Provide education and resource information regarding medication.

Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma required


• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assisting preferred

Experience

• 1-3 years as a Medical Assistant (or similar type role)


• Phlebotomy and lab experience preferred


• Experience with injections preferred


• Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
