Job Summary:
This position involves, under direct supervision, maintaining efficient patient flow, assisting with patient care, and performing tasks assigned by physicians and nurses.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Escort patients to exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
- Record patient data before physical visits, including vital signs, allergies, and medication lists.
- Obtain necessary records for the patient as required by the physician.
- Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatments or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam rooms, order supplies, and maintain/monitor sample medications.
- Assist physicians/APPs with exams and procedures as requested.
- Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites following OSHA standards and universal precautions.
- Perform lab procedures and process lab specimens as needed.
- Follow disinfection protocols to keep exam rooms clean.
- Practice Standard Precautions, including hand washing and proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Assist with chart audits for future visits, ensuring all requested authorizations and other medical records are received.
- Obtain new patient records, previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
- Maintain a clean work environment and restock supplies as needed.
- Assist other staff or team members as requested by physicians, nurses, site managers, or the executive team.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification from an accredited medical assistant program required.
- Preferred experience as a medical or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
