Job summary

HCA Healthcare in Asheville, NC seeks a Medical Assistant for a full-time, dayshift position with no nights, weekends, or holidays. You will support clinical operations in a busy practice.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, vital signs, injections, basic lab work, assisting with minor procedures, and managing referrals by phone. Certification is required; experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Medical Assistant Certification is required. Acceptable certifications: RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, NRCMA certification, or ABR-OE credentials.
  • Medical Assistants who recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from a Medical Assistings training program must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Candidates/incumbents with one year of Medical Assistant work experience who do not possess Medical Assistant Certification must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within one year of hire date.

  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Give injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.

  • Answer telephone calls to the practice and screen for referral.
