Medical Admin Laboratory Assistant
The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the position of Medical Administrative Laboratory Assistant in the Student Health Center. This is a full-time, regular, second shift position.
The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide a comprehensive moderate complexity program of primary health care services to the needs of eligible University of Tennessee students. These services shall include personal health care, health promotion and education, consultation, and educational experiences for selected students pursuing careers in health professions.
The position: The Student Health Center seeks a full-time experienced individual who is responsible for the medical admin support duties within the Student Health Center Laboratory. Duties include:
* Serving as the medical admin support for the laboratory and radiological departments.
* Responsible for the identification of presenting patients whose medical provider has ordered laboratory tests or x-rays.
* Ensures that all corresponding charges are posted to a patient's account once the ordered services are completed.
* Serves as an alternate in the performance of blood draws, EKG testing, and chaperoning of patients for services as needed. Follows all infection control procedures as mandated by the written medical policies and procedures.
* Follows all written Student Health policies and procedures.
Administrative duties shall include:
* The completion of annual UTK compliance training, OSHA training, and reviewing emails daily.
* Must have the abilities to work within a windows-based computer system to perform indicated administrative duties and to stay current on events within the Student Health operations.
* Must participate in all risk management activities.
* Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards protecting the health information of all patients.
* Must provide admin support to include scanning, copying, preparing reports, maintaining the laboratory supply closet.
