Job summary

Brooksource is seeking an experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to support the state government client’s MMIS environment in Columbia, SC. This hybrid role is a 12-month contract focusing on enhancements, production support, testing coordination, and deployment activities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of COBOL development in a mainframe environment, JCL expertise, and SDLC knowledge. Healthcare/government experience and MMIS familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of COBOL development and mainframe processing experience.
• Experience developing and supporting COBOL applications with JCL.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and production support processes.
• Experience supporting MMIS or Medicaid systems is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe COBOL applications using COBOL and JCL.
• Analyze requirements and translate into system modifications.
• Support Medicaid MMIS-related initiatives and releases.
• Participate in all SDLC phases: requirements, development, testing, deployment, production support.
• Coordinate and support UAT activities and manage deployments.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with DHHS, Clemson teams, and other resources to deliver solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and artifacts.
