ACCESS Family Care is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medicaid Enrollment Specialist to join our team in Joplin, Missouri. This position plays a critical role in helping patients access healthcare coverage by providing expert guidance through Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, renewals, and application processes. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving underserved populations and committed to making healthcare more accessible for the communities we serve.

Position Summary

The Medicaid Enrollment Specialist provides advanced eligibility and enrollment support to patients seeking Medicaid and other public health coverage programs. This role serves as a resource for complex enrollment cases, assists team members with escalated situations, and ensures applications are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with Medicaid applications, renewals, and eligibility-related issues.
  • Review, verify, and submit documentation required for eligibility determination.
  • Monitor application status and follow up with patients and state agencies as needed.
  • Support retroactive Medicaid requests and special eligibility circumstances.
  • Serve as a resource for complex cases and assist with troubleshooting denials, terminations, and application discrepancies.
  • Educate patients on Medicaid benefits, eligibility requirements, and renewal processes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within electronic health records and enrollment systems.
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance activities, and ongoing training.
  • Support workflow improvements and assist in training new team members.
  • Promote ACCESS Family Care's mission and core values through compassionate, patient-centered service.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Medicaid enrollment, eligibility services, healthcare registration, patient services, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid eligibility guidelines and application processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

Preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting.
  • Knowledge of Missouri Medicaid (MO HealthNet).
  • Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification or willingness to obtain certification.
